Terri

Terri Dawson

Terri Dawson is the Executive Director of Parents Helping Parents of WY, Inc., since it's inception in 1991. She directs both the Parent Information Center and the Parent Education Network from the central office in Buffalo. She and her husband are the parents of three young adults; their middle child being Ted, with Down Syndrome. At 22 years old, Ted has recently moved out and is living independently with supports, in his own single apartment, and has fulltime employment.

Terri has her Bachelors of Social Work and Masters of Public Administration fromthe University of Wyoming. She has been actively involved in Special Education, and parent involvement in education for the past twenty years, and speaks on parents rights and perspectives on Individuals with Disabilities Education Act around Wyoming and the nation. She is passionate about positive parent involvement in schools and working together to make a difference for ALL children.

Krista Sweckard

Krista is a Wyoming native and a University of Wyoming graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with an area of concentration in Early Childhood and a Masters in Technology in Education. She comes to us with 9 years of teaching experience, from grades 3-12. Having worked for at-risk schools and schools not making AYP, Krista brings a broad background on improving parent-school relationships. Krista and her husband Mark are the proud parents of 7-year old triplets; 2 daughters and a son.

Deb Simon

Debbie, a Wyoming native, comes to the PEN with an education background.  She received a Bachelors of Science from the University of Wyoming and her teacher certification from Regis University.  Her career experience includes agriculture, mining, manufacturing and eleven years in education.  Six of those years were experience teaching in a predominately Native American high school that had a healthy sense of culture but struggled to meet AYP.  Debbie is the parent of 2 grown sons, one in the work force and the other in college.

Lisa Heimer

Lisa has a bachelors degree in psychology from Colorado State University. She comes to the Parent Education Network with an variety of work experience, including teaching, tutoring, retail and internet business. Her volunteer experience has been in her children’s school in Cody, where she has been actively involved.

Marcy Elton

Marcy lives in Casper and is the proud parent of an 8 year old daughter. As a University of Wyoming graduate with a Bachelors of Art in Elementary Education and Special Education certification, Marcy comes to PEN with over 11 years of experience in education and parental communication.  This includes 9 years of teaching special education from grades 6-12 in Powell, Cody and finally Casper.  Marcy brings a well-rounded background and varied life experience on parental involvement within the school setting.

Brenda Hatanelas

Brenda has a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming.  She comes to the Parent Education Network with a variety of work experience in banking, accounting and as a legal assistant. She has also worked in the classroom as a substitute teacher for Laramie Co School District # 1. Her volunteer experience has been in her children’s school’s in Cheyenne as an officer and member of the PTO, volunteering with her children’s soccer teams and teaching religion classes at her church for youth.

Kelly Rogers

Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Wyoming with a minor in finance. She comes to the Parent Education Network with a variety of work experiences; ranging from a position as foreign and domestic logistics coordinator for a catalogue company to banking loan support.  In addition to volunteering in her daughter’s school in Lander, Kelly is the President of the schools’ Parents Interested in Education group and is a Daisy Girl Scout troop leader.

Tammy Goich

Tammy is a Wyoming native with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Wyoming.  As the proud mom of two boys ages 6 and 10, she is an active member and treasurer of the PTO at their school. Tammy has a wide variety of volunteer experience through various organizations in Sweetwater County.  She is also an accountant and office manager for CH2M Hill in Rock Springs and brings a wide range of work experience to the Parent Education Network.
